APEC 2018 Workshop on Innovative Marine Debris Solutions
July 26-27 2018, Beijing, China

The APEC Ocean and Fisheries Working Group is looking for experts of marine debris and micro-plastics within APRU member universities to contribute on 2018 Workshop on Innovative Marine Debris Solutions held in Beijing from July 26 to 27.

The workshop objective will: 
•share innovative approaches addressing marine debris and micro-plastics;
•share best practice, information and technologies to reduce marine debris in the APEC region;
•encourage and promote Public Private Partnerships.
The APEC Marine Sustainable Development Center China is making funding available for one APRU scholar to attend and participate in the event.

UN ESCAP Asia and the Pacific Regional Expert Workshop on Ocean Accounts
August 1-3 2018, Bangkok, Thailand

Based on the United Nations Assessment of capacity development needs of the countries in Asia and the Pacific for the implementation of SDG14, the region needs strengthening of technical capacity, coordination, governance as well as data and statistics.
 
ESCAP and UN Environment are leading the global effort to develop statistical guidance based on the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) to ensure existing statistics can be integrated along SDG14-related priorities.
 
APRU experts are called to collaborate with this initiative through presentations on ten key issues where additional work is required to develop measurement guidance.
 
To facilitate this, ESCAP are holding the Asia and the Pacific Regional Expert Workshop on Ocean Accounts, August 1-3 2018, Bangkok, Thailand.
 
Register your interest to actively contribute and engage with this UN ESCAP initiative for developing international standards for the measurement of the economic, social and environmental aspects of the ocean and coasts by completing the Nomination form.
 
Deadline for registration is the June 8th!
Funding support for academic participation is available on a limited basis.
