The 2013 University of British Columbia summer programs was a success with students from over 25 universities. We have been provided with very positive feedback from students, saying that they enjoyed the experiential learning with cultural and fun activities and their stay at UBC’s Vancouver campus, located in beautiful British Columbia with lovely summer weather. This year, we are excited to invite students from National Tsinghua University to participate in UBC’s Vancouver summer programs, currently offered in 15 packages. This is a great learning experience as UBC is one of the largest and most highly rated universities in Canada and the world.

Please find enclosed the electronic versions of the Vancouver Summer Program materials so that you can share them with your students or use them in information sessions. We would be grateful if you could kindly help promote these programs to your students:

Each student can choose one program package out of the 15 packages, each of which combines two courses as shown below:

3)  Arts Package B Politics and Sustainability

4)  Business Package A
(- International Business Management; - International Marketing)
5)  Business Package B
(- Introduction to Marketing; - Organizational Behavior and Management)
6)  Dentistry
(- Oral Cancer: Why haven’t the clinical outcomes improved?; - Dental Caries: the most common infectious disease in humans)
7)  Education Package A Classroom Management
(- Classroom Management; - Assessment and Positive Behavior Support in School and Community Settings)
8)  Education Package B Early Childhood Education
(- Foundations of Early Childhood Education; - Supporting Learning in the Early Childhood Classroom)
9)  Forestry
(- The Ecology, Economics, and Politics of Carbon; - Sustainable Forest Management)
10)  Kinesiology Package A
(- Sport and Exercise Psychology; - Applied Exercise Physiology)
11)  Kinesiology Package B
(- Leisure and Sport in Society; - Pedagogical Approaches in Physical Education)
12) Land and Food Systems Package A Food: Science and Safety
(- Introduction to Food Science; - Food Safety and Food Safety Management)
13) Land and Food Systems Package B Agribusiness Management
(- Food and Agribusiness Enterprise Management; - Food and Agribusiness Marketing Management)
14) Law
(- Introduction to the Common Law – Canadian Public Law; - Introduction to the Common Law – Canadian Private Law)
15) Medicine
(- Introduction to Clinical Research in the Sciences; - Pharmacology of Everyday Life)

The summer programs starts from July 19 to August 19, 2014 for 31 nights. The deadline for registration is March 21, 2014. Each course consists of 39 hours and academic credits are awarded by home university. Groups of less than 24 participants will join participants from other universities to study the same package.

It is not required for students to submit their English test results or application to attend these programs.  We would be grateful if home university could help us screen students who are interested to participate for their English proficiency and suitability. After we receive the registration list an invitation letter will be sent out to each of your students on the list via your office for visa application.
